REVIEW: MaryKay Timewise Liquid Foundation and Concealer

Hi girls! It’s good to be back writing again for all of you. Today’s review is about my MARYKAY TIMEWISE LIQUID MATTE FOUNDATION and MARY KAY CONCEALER. I got these babies 2 months ago and I’ve been using them for about a month now and I’m ready to give my opinion about these gorgeous products. I got them from Eloisa Co of  Kikaysimaria_store.

MARYKAY is one of the best direct-selling brands available in the market. The brand was founded at Dallas, Texas, U.S.A and has now over 3.5 million beauty consultants all over the world catering to over 4 billion Marykay users. Another fact about this company is they spend millions of money just to conduct tests to ensure that Mary Kay product meet the highest standards of quality, safety and performance. So no need to be afraid about this product because we know we are in a great hand

To be honest I’m not a fan of any direct-selling brand when it comes to makeup. Maybe because I don’t see the brand in the mainstream, I don’t think that they put effort making their products (because they don’t even put effort to their marketing), plus the most important part - it’s hard choosing your shade in a catalog because most of them don’t have testers for you to see and for you to try.  But everything changed when I use the Marykay timewise foundation and concealer this is no joke but the product blew me off .

Did you know that MaryKay is known for their skincare line? I think the reason behind the marketing strategy of being a direct-selling brand is because the brand doesn’t like to spend money on their marketing but instead of spending money doing tests for their product enhancements which is a brilliant move because not every brand in the mainstream market are all good. Yes they may have a great marketing tool but the product is a total flop. ehhhhhh? Well, not with Marykay.

The Timewise line is one the best selling skincare range from the MaryKay. The foundation is definitely water based that is why it’s suggested for oily to combination skin. It is formulated with Vitamin E and a small amount of peptide to make the skin firmer, younger and healthier. It is stated that the foundation has a matte finish however I don’t really see that it is a complete flat matte it is more of a satin finish – it is not dewy it is not matte it’s more of in between.

I got the shade Ivory 5. – because I got these goodies during summer time, my skin is a bit tanned with all the beach trips so definitely Ivory 5 is not gonna work for me. That is why I had to wait for a month to let my skin peel and get my natural skin color before I tried the foundation. Ivory 5 has pretty much yellow / warm undertone which I love. It is the same shade with MAC NC15 (I’m NC20) - a tad bit lighter for me but it does oxidize a little so it matches my skin after a while.

Packaging is cute as it comes with a pink squeeze tube. It has 29ml of product and it has buildable coverage, it’s actually full coverage in my opinion. The foundation has a very light weight feel to it because it is water based and it is easy to blend out. The foundation can last pretty long without transferring or smudging – it actually depends on how you prep your skin and how you set the foundation.

Moving to MaryKay Concealer in beige 2 – I use this product to conceal my dark circles and to brighten up my eye area however I don’t use it to conceal and hide blemishes because it doesn’t match my skin colour. The shade is perfect for my skintone as a highlighting concealer. It has extremely yellow tone which is good under the eyes.

MaryKay claims that this concealer is waterproof and good for all skin types specially sensitive skin including delicate skin around the eye area. It has a thick creamy formula and it is very pigmented and can cover easily dark circles. This concealer is a recent favorite of mine because it doesn’t crease and it is lightweight considering that it is thick formula. I love the squeeze tube packaging for sanitary purposes and the size is travel friendly.

Let me show you guys some swatches.

LEFT : MK concealer in beige 2 | RIGHT: MK timewise matte foundation in Ivory 5

You can see how yellow they are!

Trying to blend the product a little.

Both products work amazing in my experience. They are both fragrance free if you have issues with scented makeups this is for you. I would like to thank Eloisa for letting me try MaryKay products if you guys are interested to try them out please do check out Kikaysimaria_store on instagram to know more about these products. What's In My Beach Makeup Bag? (summer 2016)

Makeup Pouch from @robincaseyph at instagram

Hey girls! I just want to share all the makeup stuff I have with me during my summer vacay. I know it’s a bit too late for this since we are now approaching rainy season but I just wanted to share it to you especially to those who’s still planning their “huling hirit sa tag-init”. To some of you who think it’s inappropriate to wear makeup or not necessary when you’re going to swim, uhm you might wanna close this blog and hit the “X” button up there cause obviously this is not for you.

Okay, so if you don’t know I love summer, I love going out in trips especially long rides - super loooooooong rides, and I love camping or any outdoor activities. My family and I enjoyed camping out - it may not show on my social media accounts or even in my personality but we do love camping actually I do. We love staying in a tent rather than staying in a luxury 5 star hotel, I don’t know but we just prefer putting up our own tent and fix our own sheets rather than staying in those cosy beds maybe because we are much closer to nature with camping and we can have some drinks and enjoy the rest of the night at the shore of the beach. T’was fun!

During this kind of trips the makeup I bring along is stripped down to the basics more of my everyday makeup routine but less options you know what I mean. I don’t bring 5 shades of lipsticks, 3 shades of concealers and foundations, eyeshadow palettes and such but it is more of the things I use on a daily basis and mostly my favourite products.

So everything fits in this little pouch that I got from my student Robin of @robincaseyph at instagram. I love the size - not so big but no so tiny it’s actually a decent size to be a makeup bag that’s why I use it for my makeups and I love the print (very me lol!) they actually got different styles to choose from so check them out!

Let's get into my makeups.

 Quick FX No-Shine Mattifier

I have combination skin so this is a must have in my makeup purse. My fave budget friendly primer that really works! I love bringing this during trips because it is not bulky and it fits perfectly in my makeup pouch.

Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer in light warm

This is my current favourite concealer so I always have this in my makeup bag. I use this as a highlighting concealer since it is too light for concealing my spots. Love this under my eye but be sure to set it quickly!

Revlon Dramatic Definition mascara

Another new fave of mine! Got this from my Watsons family last SM beauty makeover project. Since I'm not using any eyeshadow atleast give some definition to your eyes by using a good mascara -must be waterproof of course. Not sure if this is really waterproof - I use this the last time at the beach and it doesn't smudge on me . So I think it is?

Revlon balm stain in Romantic

I love lipbalms so this is not a surprise that I have one. I always have a lipblam in my purse to keep my lips hydrated. Love that this one has a little tint!

Becca shimmering skin perfector pressed in Opal

We need some glow on the beach girl! A little glow with Becca opal won’t hurt.

Nars Laguna Bronzer

Nothing beats this bronzer for me so to make sure my bronzer is on fleek I always bring this one with me. I also use this to contour my chest a little bit. (because mama got no cleavage. Lol!)

Mary Kay Concealer in Beige 2

Again, this is a new fave! I loveeeeeee the coverage and the shade is perfect for my skin tone. I'll do a separate review about my new Mary Kay makeup products.

Anastasia Beverly Hills brow duo in Medium Brown

We know it completes the whole look. Just fill them in naturally and avoid drawn looking brows.

Lip and cheek tint from SkinLab Naturals

Because we love those natural looking lips and cheek right?

Hourglass ambient blush in Diffused Heat

Just in case I need some blush you know. Hourglass in diffused heat has a little beach-y feel. (because of its coral shade)

MAC studio fix powder in nc20

To set my foundation and to make me look fresh all the time. Yasssssss girl!

Mary Kay Timewise matte –wear liquid foundation in Ivory

I brought this because it’s matte finish and the packaging is small and light which is perfect for travel. Currently loving it because of the great coverage.

So there you go those are the makeups I bring along with me during my last summer vacay. I'd love to hear what you guys bring to the beach, or if you think I'm missing anything! Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for dropping by hope you had a very wonderful summer! See you all very soon!

Sharing some of our summer photos!

With Love,
Anne

RECENT PRODUCT EMPTIES! (summer 2016)

Hello there beauty! I haven’t done this kind of post before and I think it’s a great idea to show you guys the products that either I love till its last drop or the product that I didn’t love that much but I used it up (maybe because I spend my own money on it)

Let's start!

L’oreal True Match Liquid Foundation in W4

Okay so this product is an ultimate favourite of mine, I have actually 6 diff shades (mainly for my kit and for myself) it’s funny because w4 is not my shade so I bought w2 to mix them up to get my desired shade, which you may think it is maybe w3 but its not. I have w3 and w3 alone is not warm enough for me that it tends to look ashy on my skin tone so I mix w4 and w2 which has a good amount of yellow tone to get my shade.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara

I don’t know if I included this mascara to my blogs before but this is actually my 4th or maybe my  5th tube of this particular product. That’s how much I love it. I love the formula and brush wand and being affordable is another factor to consider of loving it and keep on repurchasing it. I’m so happy that is it now available locally here in the Philippines coz’ I remember before I always order this mascara online. It’s everyone’s favourite!

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

This is second to my most favourite finishing spray which is Skindinavia, what more can I say about this product? Well, it does its job holding my makeup into place and makes it really looooong-lasting. Will definitely repurchase this amazing product!

MAC Prep + Prime Fix plus

I’m in a spray chaos now, 1st I run out of my finishing spray now it’s my setting spray. This fix plus is incomparable, I don’t really know any dupes for this particular product because it works amazingin setting my foundation.  I need to buy one now!

Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer

I have a 50-50 relationship with this product because it breaks me out so badly but it does the job on holding my makeup and make my base applied smoothly. You can see I have more than 30% left of the product but I will not risk my face again using it because my skin is now acne free. Thanks to God and to all my skincare products! Haha!  I would not repurchase this one because I have so many primers that don’t break me out but I would recommend this if your skin will not have any reaction using it cause it more affordable compare to others.

Catrice Camouflage concealer in 01

It’s thick enough to cover your whole face (if you want lol) and I like the pigmentation. However, my main purpose why I bought this is to use it as a highlighting concealer but as I’ve said it’s too thick that it tends to crease so badly under my eye area that I really have to put so much effort in prepping my face to make this concealer work. Nope, not going to repurchase.

Revlon Brow Fantasy in the shade Brunette

Out of all the brow products that I have used in my entire makeup life this is by far, my most favourite of all. It’s a gel and pencil product in 1 for only 500pesos which is a great steal. Although this product would only last for 6 months to me (if you’re using it everyday) because the amount of product you’ll get is pretty small but I still love it and would always always always repurchase it.

MJ Brush Cleaner in Lavender Scent

My favorite brush cleaner so farrrrrrr! Love the scent and my client always says my brushes smell so good whenever I use my fresh cleaned brushes to their faces. The only downside to this product is it’s always out of stock or I think it is already discontinued. Sad.

Maybeline White Super Fresh Cake Powder in 04 Honey

I love that it is yellow tone and that it has SPF for skin protection. Only downside is you don’t wanna use this at night to set your foundation because it has high SPF which is 37 and may cause you white cast on photographs. But that is not really an issue to me cause I have other powder to use. I love this powder during summer because of the SPF and it really does set my foundation beautifully plus not to mention the great coverage it has because it’s a cake powder.

That was a lot of empties and made me realize that I need to repurchase some of them real soon. I hope you liked this post and tell me what products have you used up at the comment section below. Thanks for dropping by!!

With Love,
Anne

First Impression: KAT VON D SHADE + LIGHT CONTOUR PALETTE

I  got this palette and ordered it online a while back and I know this post is longggggggg - over due. If you didn’t know, I am a huge fan of contouring & highlighting because it really does a dramatic difference once you’ve done it the right way. So my makeup soul is always on “YASSSSSSS” whenever I see that there’s a new contour palette out in the market. I’ve had a few contouring kits, powders and highlighting powders as well but this KVD Shade and Light Palette is an exceptional palette that really stands out in the market these days (in my own stash too).

Aside from being the largest contour palette in my kit, it is also the most buttery in texture, which means its easy to blend and not patchy on skin, cause sometimes we had those muddy looking contour and we don’t like that. The palette has 3 highlighting shade (0.08 oz each) and 3 contour shades (0.16 oz each) this palette has a ton of product in it. I just wish that the contour shades lean more towards on the cooler side or taupe-y shade rather than being all warm, but don’t get me wrong they’re all beautiful. It comes with a manual on how to use each shade and how to contour your whole face.

The shade names are all unique; I believe some are in Latin words. Not sure  but let me just run through them one by one and give you guys a little description about each shades.

TOP (HIGHLIGHTING POWDER) LUCID A slightly pink powder with beige undertone used to brighten up the under eye area. Perfect for setting under-eye concealers for fair skin with cool undertone.

BOTTOM (CONTOURING POWDER) SOMBRE is the only cool toned contour powder in this kit. I use this shade on my skin tone and it works perfectly. (NC15 on MAC)

TOP (HIGHLIGHTING POWDER) LYRIC  – A slightly yellow toned powder with warm undertone. This shade can instantly lift your eyes and brighten up the under eye area. Perfect for light to medium - dark skin complexion with warm undertone.

BOTTOM (CONTOURING POWDER) SHADOWPLAY – deeper and slightly warmer than sombre. Almost a bronzer shade but matte finish. Could work with medium to dark skin tones.

TOP (HIGHLIGHTING POWDER) LEVITATION  – A peachy shade used to cancel out dark under eye circles and this powder is great as a setting/highlighting powder for deep skin tones.

BOTTOM (CONTOURING POWDER) SUBCONSCIOUS – The darkest shade in the palette. Not too warm compare to shadowplay but not too cool as sombre it is more in neutral undertone. A wonderful contour shade for all deep skin tones.

L-R // LUCID , LYRIC, LEVITATION | SOMBRE , SHADOWPLAY, SUBCONSCIOUS

I’ve been using it for months now and this post is long-over due. I know there’s a ton of reviews about this beautiful palette from Kat Von D so I just hope that this post helped you deciding whether to buy it or not, I say give it a try. It’s beautiful, packaging is awesome, the amount of products your getting is enormous and the shades are all blendable and pigmented which is the most important thing to consider.

By far, it’s one of my most favourite as of today. Should I do a contour and highlight kit battle post? Let me know what you think! Thanks for dropping by beautiful!

with love,
Anne
